Building a Webiste
What Type of Food are You?

Have you always wanted to have your very own website? Well read this!

  1. Choose a host. Choosing a host could be one of the most important steps in building a website. There are several websites out there that give free hosting, such as:

    1. www.freewebs.com
    2. www.tripod.com
    3. www.angelfire.com
    4. www.geocities.com

There are several more, but I have only heard of a few. There is also www.bravenet.com, but I do not recomend it. The navigation isn't very good, and neither are the templates. But it does give you several good  choices, including the code.

Anyways, I recomend either Freewebs or Tripod. they are both really great. They have free services, but you can upgrade it to an account with more and better choices, but it costs money. Choose a host that is right for you. Choose one that gives you a lot of space, maybe some good templates, and one that fits your budget.
  2. Get a domain name. A domain name is the URl, or the address. Sucvh as: http://www.domainname.com or something like that. it doesn't awlays have to have the "www" in it, but it always ends with ".tk" or ".com" or ".net" or something like that. But they aren't always free. Some paid account will give you a frre domain name, but you still have to pay for the account. To me, that's a pretty good deal, but you still need money. Other times, you have to buy a domain name separtley from either

    A) A different website
    B) The same website

Each host is different, so check around
  3. Decorate with HTML. What you see when you look at a website is HTML. HTML is the coding of a picture, layout, and text. It's made up of several letters and numbers and symbols. It can get very confusing if you are new to it, but there are websites out there that give tutorials, or lessons on HTML or Javascript. There are also websites that you can egt templates or extra things to go on your website that comes with the coding. If you are using a host that lets you just pick out your template, and type everything in, like I'm using, it's much easier. See what's right for you.
  4. Promote your website. After your site is on the Web, you want visitors. You can do it several ways. You can buy a space on a search engine, such as Google, buy again, you must pay. another easy way is by emailing. Email everyone in your address book, and tell your friends about your website. List what your site is about, and give the address. You may even consider handing out or posting flyers to people. Have fun!
